Jaguar Land Rover announce radical electrification plans

From 2025 Iconic car manufacturer Jaguar will move completely away from the internal combustion engine and become a zero-emission car brand as part of a wider Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) strategy dubbed Reimagine, whilst Jaguar’s co-brand Land Rover will increase the number of electric models it produces under that badge.

JLR’s Reimagine strategy is being forged under the stewardship of CEO Thierry Bolloré, the ex-Renault manager took over as chief executive at JLR from in September 2020, taking over from Ralph Speth, and Bolloré has outlined plans to invest 2.8 billion euros annually in electrification and related services and infrastructure. 

“Jaguar Land Rover is unique in the global automotive industry,” confirmed Bolloré. “Designers of peerless models, an unrivalled understanding of the future luxury needs of its customers, emotionally rich brand equity, a spirit of Britishness and unrivalled access to leading global players in technology and sustainability within the wider Tata Group. We are harnessing those ingredients today to reimagine the business, the two brands and the customer experience of tomorrow. The Reimagine strategy allows us to enhance and celebrate that uniqueness like never before.”

Land Rover will launch six all-electric models over the next five years with the first being available in 2024 with all-electric variants available for all JLR model and by 2030 every model range will be offered with fully electric powertrains with general plans to continue to produce the Range Rover, Discovery and Defender with a focus on high quality and luxury. JLR will be testing the first all-electric versions over the next 12 months.
