No V8? No problem! Check out this game-changing electric Mustang.
Recently, pro-drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr and his band of merry men and women down at RTR Vehicles got together with Ford Performance to create this ludicrous one-off, all-electric, 1,400bhp, smoke machine: the Ford Mustang Mach-E 1400.
Cry all you want about a Mustang with no V8, this prototype is no lay-about. Pro-drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr and his band of merry men and women down at RTR Vehicles have worked with Ford Performance to create this ludicrous one-off, all-electric, 1,400bhp, smoke machine: the Ford Mustang Mach-E 1400.
A high-performance battery and up to seven electric motors power this all-wheel drive bewinged colossus. That said, the power can be dialled back and can include a front or rear-wheel-drive set-up for different disciplines – circuit racing, drifting, drag racing, hillclimbs… you name it! Ford suggest their unique wild-child has versatility and performance unlike any other race car. This claim is underlined by the special Mach-E 1400’s snarling features.
A jungle of front winglets, voluptuous wheel arches and huge rear scoop – capable of generating up to 1,000kg of downforce at 160mph – all point to a Ford built to be driven to the limit.
Not simply a platform for speed, Mustang Mach-E 1400 has been described by Ford as a “test bed for new materials” which includes a special bonnet which was crafted from lightweight organic composite fibres. The custom hydraulic handbrake is just a bit of fun for when the kids are in the back… Yes, despite the race cage, it has four seats!
Does a new world of instant torque through bleeding-edge technology win over the old Mustang guard? Only time will tell.
